Entitlements are the third rail
of American Politics; if you touch them you die! We all need to make a
sacrifice and grab the
third rail together!
The United States is currently faced with the looming
crisis of a rising federal debt that will outpace the growth of the
economy. At the same time as tax cuts are being implemented, government
spending is reaching unprecedented heights and the national debt is
tipping the scale at $8.2 trillion. The financial carelessness of
Congress is threatening the economic health of the nation.
Entitlement programs such as
Social Security,
Medicare,
and Medicaid, along with large trade deficits and fiscal policy, are the
main factors behind the federal deficit problem. Although these programs
and issues are politically difficult to confront, they must be dealt
with sooner rather than later.
The goal of this website is to provide an understandable
discussion of the issues surrounding the federal deficit. By increasing
national awareness it is this group’s hope that we can ignite a domestic
movement and spur political and economic change. It is the
responsibility of all Americans, of all generations, to understand the
current economic situation and get involve in the national conversation.
