Who is Albert Seay?

Albert Seay was professor of Music at colorado College beginning in 1953, and served as Chair of the Music Department from 1967 until his retirement in 1982. His students and colleagues knew him as a great teacher and scholar who was equally dedicated to undergraduates and to his own internationally acclaimed musicological research. The dedication of the library in his memory took place in October of 1984.

The Collection

The Seay Library collection comprises over 18,700 books and scores as well as subscriptions to approximately 50 musical journals. There are over 11,300 sound recordings and convenient listening facilities which include individual stations and two group listening rooms. The holdings include:

Of special interest to Renaissance music historians is Dr. Seay's private collection of sixteenth-century prints on microfilm, numbering about 500, along with the distinguished musicologist's vast personal reference library, all of which now form a part of the collection.
