Direction to the campus:

Colorado College campus is located between Uintah (north) and Cache La Poudre Streets (south). Nevada Street is the east boundary for the campus buildings and Cascade street runs through the campus (and divides our small campus into east and west campus). The true east boundary is the interstate (I-25). We will spend all our time on the East Campus. Remember in Colorado Springs the mountains are to the West. Here is the link to the campus map: http://www.ColoradoCollege.edu/AboutCC/CampusMap.html

If driving from the Airport at Colorado Springs:

Exit the airport and take a right on to POWERS BLVD.

Stay on POWERS and follow the signs to downtown. (You will most likely turn left on to Platte Street and head towards the mountains. Platte comes right into downtown.)

Once downtown, go north (turn right) on Cascade or Nevada. The campus is half a mile of so north of Platte.

Once on campus you want to be on Cascade and San Rafael intersection. (San Rafael is not a street that goes through the campus but the library parking lot has a sign marking the street. If you got to Uintah, you are a block too far). On the west side of this intersection is the Boettcher Health Center. Loomis Hall is behind this building. You want to go to the lobby of Loomis Hall and get your keys for Edith Gaylord Hall. This hall is not on the map as it is one of the new buildings on the campus. It is just north of Loomis. The people at the desk are going to direct you to the building.

If taking a cab:

The cab fare runs to about $20. Ask the cab driver to take you to the Colorado College campus. You want to ask the cabby to drop you off a block south of Cascade and Uintah intersection. (The official address of the college is 14 E. Cache La Poudre but this is not the address for where the building you want to go is located.) On the west side of the street is Boettcher health center (Tutt library with a statue in front is on the east side). Loomis Hall is behind this building. You want to check-in in the lobby of Loomis. The Edith gaylord Hall is just north of Loomis. It is currently not on the map as it is relatively new building. Please ask the person at the desk to point out the building if necessary.

Weather in Colorado Springs:

Colorado Springs can have weather ranging from 40 0F to 90 0F. It can be really hot and sunny in the morning and thunder and pour in the afternoon. So plan to bring an umbrella and some pair of warm clothing. It is very likely that you will be fine in your summer clothes

Campus phone system:

Dial the last four digits of the phone number to call on campus. For example, my phone number is 719-389-6433, you will dial 6433 to call my office. All the campus phone are 389-XXXX. 389-5000 will get you the operator of the Colorado College. Dial 9 to get an outside line to make local calls or to access your 800 numbers. Dial 9 and 0 to get the outside operator.

How to get to Worner Student Center, Rastall Dinning Hall, and Perkins Lounge:

Worner Center is where we have all our meetings. The Rastall Dinning Hall and Perkins Lounge are also in the Worner Student Center. Worner Center is at the corner of Cascade and Cache La Poudre. Edith Gaylord house is almost at Cascade and Uintah. If you walk south about a block and half on cascade the big building on the northwest corner of Cache La Poudre and Cascade is the Worner Center. Rastall is on the first floor. Perkins Lounge and the meeting rooms are on the second floor.

Local Stores:

There are many locally owned and operated stores in Colorado Springs. Most of these are within walking distance of the college. Walking south of campus about half-a-mile will take you into the heart of downtown.

The following stores are worth checking out:

Chinook Bookstore
Terra Verde
The Colorado Running Company
Poor Richard's Bookstore (New and Used books, has a children's bookstore too)
Gateway bookstore (may have changed names; used bookstore across from acacia park)

Coffee Shops:
Pikes Perk (coffee shop)
Boulder Street Café (coffee shop)
Montague's (good desserts and coffee)

Local Eateries:
Saigon Café (Vietnamese)
Poor Richards (Famous for Pizza)
IL Vicino (Italianish, has microbrew)
Narayan's (Indian/Tibetan food)
Fujiyama (Japenese, good Sushi)
Phantom Canyon (good microbrew and has food and pool tables upstairs)
Tao's Café and Juice Bar (good organic food and very close to campus)
Dale Street Café (very close and a good place to eat)
Wooglin's Deli (very close)

La Creperie (French)
Amanda's Fonda (Mexican)
Mataam Fez (Moroccon)

Working Out:
The Y is downtown
The student gym is behind the Worner Center, ask Neena for access details.

The Monument Trail:
Can easily be accessed from Cache (just go west past the gym, you can't miss it.) Wood Ave is one street west of where you are staying and is a good street to run on Another, possibly more pleasant running trail can be accessed by running east on Uintah for three and half blocks. You won't miss it! It goes North/South.

Neighborhoods around here are generally safe. It is advised to be careful none-the less. If possible don't run/walk in dark.

Many hiking and biking options are available but are not walking distance. So please ask.
