William Buehler

Catholic Apostolic Church of Antioch

Interview Conducted by: Johanna Kasimow and Sarah Oliphant

William Buehler is a seventy-four year old man who has been living with his wife of 52 years in Crestone, Colorado since 1995. He is a retired naval officer (1956-76) with battle experience in Vietnam and has had 3 years of post-grad training in religion at American University in Washington DC. He has been a minister in the independent and liberal “Catholic Apostolic Church of Antioch” since 1983. Buehler was interviewed on the Colorado College Baca Campus for a project titled “Sacred Places, Spiritual Practices, and the Potential of Natural Gas Drilling” on February 25 and February 26, 2008 by Johanna Kasimow and Sarah Oliphant, students participating in the course “Anthropology 326: Religion and Ritual.”

Buehler said that he first had “paranormal” experiences while he was serving as a Navy Commander in the early 1970s and has since gained extensive knowledge in a number of spiritual systems and has had formal training in various religions, his experiences include instances of “miracles” involving him personally and friends in his immediate company. He is aware of many of his own reincarnations and he considers himself to have “above average clairsentience, sufficient to do his present work.” He retired from the Navy in 1976 to go into full time spiritual work where he could continue deep research in spiritual dynamics that would explain how and why his and others’ extraordinary experiences would occur.

His specialty over the last 37 years has been “sacred geometry applied in temple and earth grids” which he also finds in scripture and can apply in group process. He identifies as a “mystic deeply involved in Metatronic ‘Ascension’ dynamics relating to a continuum Time shift now ongoing.” Buehler said that, “Each country has a destiny, that religions and cultures have also—they all fit into a master plan.” He does not have a following other than a small but highly trained weekly group, however he is in regular communication with a community of a few hundred people interested in similar work; they are mainly in the US and Europe with a few in the Mideast.. Buehler expressed that he felt his personal spiritual and world views were “too far out” and “weird” for many orthodox people, and especially if expressed in governmental documents, to understand without extensive briefings. He was happy to speak with us about his views, believing that we (as students of Anthropology) would wish to have a more comprehensive description of spiritual dynamics than would most people, in the areas of interest where there could be adverse impact by oil field production.

Buehler believes it is important to find common ground between the local spiritual communities and individuals representing larger institutions having and interest in the area, in order to make a case for the sacredness of the land. An example of an important widely used system involving occult anatomy is the “Chakra” plexus in the human body. He explained that many people and groups in Crestone recognize the chakra system as it’s used around the World. Eastern religions identify seven chakras and Western religions will often identify twelve major chakras; these are associated with different locations of energy in the physical body linking to nonphysical auric fields, or “an energy field in the body that also manages consciousness.” He said that the chemicals or toxins released from the drilling would threaten the human endocrine system, which will subsequently affect human and thus earth’s chakra systems. He feels it is important that since so many religious groups in Crestone use this chakra system it could be identified as a strong point in common when identifying possible threats. “Everyone knows what a chakra is. So we know that the chemicals…will significantly threaten or damage the endocrine system…the endocrine system is the interface system that works closely with the chakra plexus. If the system is affected then whole light body system…can be is severely cut off, distorted, [resulting in] psychological as well as physical issues.” He describes, “[There is] a resonant harmonic with functions in light bodies. So you are not only physically impaired, but also spiritually…that would be an action line. There are about 15 or more organizations that could use chakras and other subtle systems in the psychic range, that’s the potential range for probable threat.” Bill also believes that Crestone is the 7 th Chakra (of 12) according to a system he refers to as the “Metatronic Planetary Ascension Grid.”

The endocrine system affects the entire human body physically and spiritually. He also elaborated that even the frequencies that the insects generate can influence the larger area’s energy and consciousness field. The seventh chakra has special significance in that it links into the higher range and manages the lower chakras in any system using them, in this situation those would be other sites around the Planet. This grid then serves as the link between the physical and that which is beyond physical in the collective “Gaia” (Planetary) and Human Race’s Mind/Soul.

He explains this in parallel terms with the human’s personal chakra system, Buehler believes that the earth is a sentient being, and also has chakras that are located in different locations of energy on and in the earth. Crestone was recognized “by the interplanes angelic mentors as the seventh chakra of twelve in the Planetary Ascension Grid” put in place in 1995.

“This place that you are sitting in—is a crown chakra that connects into the whole planet and the racial mind…A huge network thing. So what goes on here is vitally important to the whole planet’s and Human racial mind and its Transition, because it is a primary mechanism in an Ascension grid. So, the present scenario suggests that a destructive antipathetical faction is trying to crash the larger Ascension grid function… it is highly unlikely that the physical persons involved would know any of this. This point is the main center of the particular high-frequency area. So in this long-term cycle, it has been a protected area. Probably Lexam will be beaten, but I don’t know. My main interest is to focus on personal advancement rather than be preoccupied with destructive programs, and to assist others that ask for advice in spiritual advancement.”

Buehler describes a sort of interconnectivity, where anything that happens in Crestone affects all other areas where the cause-effect dynamic can trickle down through energy grids and supporting grids around the Planet. There are many groups world-wide that use a number of specialized grids, all an integrated form of “nervous system” as it were. Buehler uses the particular grid (the Metatronic Planetary Ascension Grid) which also contains the area reaching from Mount Antero, north of the San Luis Valley ... containing Crestone, to Santa Fe, New Mexico, to the south. He says that people often talk of the “Crestone crunch”, which is often experienced when a person enters the energy field in the Crestone area at a certain location several miles from town and within the drilling area. At this moment of entry, people will begin “downloading” the energy of the entire system and “linking in to the planet” more than one would when they are outside of the energy field. People become more sensitive to any activities in the environment that occur at these “focal points”, and Crestone is considered a significant one to Buehler.

In the event that production drilling does take place, Buehler is not optimistic about the outcome.

“The chakra involves not only earth consciousness but it involves that of the human too. If humans can’t function here then the earth matrix is not functional. The chakra becomes something like some run-down ghetto. It is trash in terms of evolutionary consciousness. So if you can drive humans out then you have effectively destroyed the chakra’s required role in the greater Transition.”

He also describes the environment as having a significant impact on the many visitors, spiritual students attending retreats and intensive training courses, as well as residents. “It’s a worldwide resource…they are sensitive to the ambient environment…the mental, spiritual environment. They would be sensitive to the beauty of the place…also sensitive to energy forms, such as toxins, and to nature.” Bill also feels that the beauty of the place has more significance than people often acknowledge. “Natural beauty isn’t just something pretty to look at. It’s an expression of the planet and humanity itself…beauty correlates with a particular state of grace.”

Buehler commented briefly on other energy forces that are found in the Baca/ Crestone vicinity and how drilling would affect these forces. “There is a curious hum that comes out of the earth, people have heard it in England, here, and in the New Mexico areas particularly around Taos, another highly spiritual center. The “Hum” is an energy-conscious wave that comes out of the center of the planet…the planet is humming and/or pulsing a tone in the way that humans do as a meditation technique… interfering with Earth energetics reduces our unconscious ability to pick up this humming.” He considers animals, birds and insects as having a sort of healing and balancing affect on the energy. “Birds…you’ve seen them riding vortices. They’re doing more than just looking for mice. They’re actually balancing the field and responding to shifts in the energy.”

Buehler said that he understands that describing the apparently subjective nature of sacred land will be a challenge. “The big problem is spiritual dynamics: what is that? And why would that be significant? In a way that is a really tough thing. It is so subjective. Trying to objectify it is really difficult.” In his document of potential cultural impacts that he is working on, he describes spiritual dynamics as describing, “a state of being with related qualities of consciousness and energy systems that support a basic psychic or “soul” field-matrix. These are usually in the realm of the unseen and are therefore least understood albeit most important to most of Humanity, most emphatically the people of Crestone. These three large areas of vital activity are most easily threatened by oil production operations.”

From a legal perspective, Buehler noted that the American Indian Religious Freedom Act of August 11, 1978 could be an important legal precedent for defending the land as significant. When asked about the importance of tangible artifacts, such as graves, Buehler responded that there must be actual evidence of Native Americans having used the land and there is not much, if any evidence that he has heard of on the Baca land in the production area as specified. He said the Freedom Act is “Irrelevant unless we can establish that we, here, consider the area sacred. We have to demonstrate what they [Lexam] are doing adversely affects what we are doing. It might even be positive, but I can’t even think of anything positive. It is potentially a complete disaster.”
