Bryant "Tip" Ragan
Professor and Chair Department of History and Interdisciplinary Program of Feminist & Gender Studies Colorado College |
As the early modern Europeanist in the History Department at The Colorado College, I teach a wide variety of courses on the history of Europe from the Renaissance through the Enlightenment. Colorado College provides rich opportunities to bring my research and pedagogical interests together. My current scholarship focuses on the history of sexuality in eighteenth-century France, for example, and I offer two courses on the history of sex in cross-cultural perspective.
The two aspects of life that I enjoy most at CC are the exciting interdisciplinary teaching possibilities and the wonderful academic sociability that reigns on campus. This spring, for instance, Esther Redmount (Economics and Business) and I are co-teaching a course on economic history at the Newberry Library in Chicago. I also enjoy the discussions at the faculty/staff reading group that focuses on Early Modern Studies and the diverse activities of the “Third Thursday” series hosted by the History Department, such as movies, field trips, and lectures.
