British Domination
Our time in Quebec City will also lead us to study the history of "Lower Canada," the political and geographical entity that the British created for what were then known as "the Canadians" -- as distinct from the British who came to dominate Canada. Our examination of the various compromises, rebellions, and arrangements that eventually led to the containment of most of what later came to be called "the French-Canadians" will take us to the heart of Quebecois nationalism: the Parliament of Quebec, home of the National Assembly of Quebec and the National Museum of Quebec. ("Quebecois" or "Quebecker" is the third name for the majority of the French people of Canada.)
